Artist Özgür Kar (1992) is the win­ner of the Volkskrant Visual Art Prize 2020. Jury chair Barbara Visser pre­sent­ed him with the prize dur­ing a fes­tive gath­er­ing at the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam. The cer­e­mo­ny could be heard live on Opium NPO Radio 4.

The award con­sists of a total amount of €20,000. Half of this is intend­ed for a pub­li­ca­tion. Kar’s work can be seen until 22 March 2020, togeth­er with that of four oth­er nom­i­nees. Visitors to the muse­um can vote for their favorite until Sunday 8 March 2020. We will announce the name of the pub­lic win­ner on March 15 dur­ing the Volkskrant Visual Arts Public Day.
